The Return of the Sorcerer

For some time, the narrator Mr. Odgen was out of work, so he was extremely pleased when John Carnby offered him a job. Carnby needed someone who knew Arabic in order to translate excerpts from the terrible “Necronomicon” by the mad Arab Abdul Alhazred—since Carnby had the Arabic original!

Odgen lived in his employer’s house and more than once noticed strange sounds filling it. At first, Carnby said it were rats, but one day he had to explain to his secretary the true terrible origin of those sounds…
