A Wizard of Earthsea

Today Ged is the greatest wizard of Earthsea, but in his youth he recklessly yearned for power and knowledge. Once he stepped onto the path that seemed the shortest and easiest, the young man touched an ancient secret, and—because of him—great evil entered the world.

To set things right, one must walk another path—one as long as life. Risking everything at every step, overcoming impossible obstacles, changing beyond recognition, understanding one’s purpose—and meeting, in a decisive duel, with the black shadow.

The cycle “A Wizard of Earthsea” brought his author worldwide fame, and today he stands alongside such fantasy masterpieces as J. R. R. Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings” and C. S. Lewis’s “Narnia.”
