With the novella «Waves Suppress the Wind», the authors brought to an end the cycle about the World of Noon that they had been creating for a quarter of a century. Readers’ expectations were high, and as always in such cases, the last book of someone left at least one person disappointed—because of its brevity, its experimental nature, its traditionally understated form. But the years passed, and it became clear how carefully considered and precise the final part of the great epic turned out to be—how deep and multi-meaningful it is, how relevant it remains to this day, and one could say how prophetic.
