It’s not in Gurov’s nature to force a solution to fit a ready answer. If there was a suicide—yet people are passing it off as murder, and they even accuse an innocent person—that means someone is benefiting. Who, then? Gurov finds out, assuming the reason for such falsification must be sought. And as often happens, the cause is big money. And the money hunter turns out to be much closer than anyone expected—in his home ministry. Moreover, he’s one of those people against whom a duel is deadly. Now Gurov has to think about how to save his own head.
