The Voivode

11 hrs. 34 min.
He had only a few months left to live. But a lucky turn of fate gave him a new, full, satisfying life. Yes, in the Middle Ages—but what difference does it make, especially when everything turns out in a way that you don’t have to get bored.

He experienced what it’s like to walk the path “from the Varangians to the Greeks.” He saw the splendor and poverty of Constantinople. He went through mud, blood, and the stench of battles. He almost destroyed the Seljuks’ state. He was the favorite of the future emperor and the lover of his sister. And fate was ready to reward him with new joys and trials that wouldn’t let the blood stagnate.

But at some point, a feeling of responsibility for the people who trusted him tells him that within the territory of the Byzantine Empire he won’t be able to protect them. And then he decides to return to Rus. There, too, is not peaceful. Principalities are shaken again and again by internecine wars. But maybe you can settle somewhere away from these conflicts. If it works out, of course.
