Vasilisk. Book 1. The Waif

A young mentalist, capable of reading the thoughts of any living creature and drawing information from the astral field about things and past events, is kidnapped by foreign mercenaries. They manage to block his memory and somehow send him into a different, dangerous world. Here, a new story unfolds in dark times: swords and gunpowder are in use, pirates and the Inquisition grow vicious—an entire gentleman’s set of “must-haves.” The only trouble is, the newcomer manages to slip out of the clutches of the slave traders, and a wandering mage—orphan begins to get into serious mischief. Well then, why complain? Heroes and villains never really get along side by side… Oh, and I almost forgot—there’s also an impudent red cat underfoot, and it’s special!!!
