The question arises: what is the connection between these murders and Lena’s former men—Nikita Koltsov, a photographer, and Pavel Golitsyn, a writer—whose new novel tells of a detective very much like Lena Kroshina and a similar case? Perhaps the answers lie in Kroshina’s own past.
