MP Evelyn Bowen of the British House of Commons is kidnapped along with her ten-year-old daughter by activists of the Conservative Party. Afraid that revealing certain secrets from her past could ruin her career, Evelyn doesn’t want to report the disappearance to the police. The only thing she agrees to is contacting a private individual—the crime forensic expert Simon St. James—for help. Simon, who has never handled detective work on his own, is willing to refuse. But his wife convinces him to take the case.
