Ernest Cunningham—an avid fan of the classic detective novel, the author of guidebooks on how to write stories in this genre, and a man who practices deduction better than many working detectives. In a short time, he has managed to unravel several high-profile cases and gained widespread recognition. And his book, “Everyone in Our Family Has Killed Someone,” has gone worldwide and become a bestseller.

Literary agent Simone Morrison offers him a proposal that’s hard to refuse: taking part in a festival of detective writers and their fans. The cherry on top is that the anniversary festival will take place on a train traveling along the legendary tourist route across the harsh Australian wilderness.
