Description
The fencing teacher Grezzier hands Alexandre Dumas his notes, written during a trip to Russia. They describe how he went to Saint Petersburg and began teaching fencing lessons. All his students are future Decembrists. One of them is Count Annenkov, husband of Grezzier’s old acquaintance, Louise. Soon a rebellion breaks out, but it is immediately put down by Nicholas I. All the Decembrists are exiled to Siberia, including Count Annenkov. Desperate Louise decides to go after her husband and share with him the hardships of hard labor. Grezzier agrees to help her…
