Betrayal… Not one family boat has shattered against this reef to pieces. But let’s not forget that the heroes of Voronova are doctors, and their mission is to heal—including emotional wounds. They know where love can be saved through therapy, and where it is necessary to intervene surgically…
Maria Voronova (a pen name) was born in 1972 in Leningrad. From early childhood she dreamed of becoming a doctor. She entered the First Medical Institute, which she graduated in 1995; then came graduate school and a candidate dissertation.
Voronova is a surgeon. Over the years of surgical practice she has operated on an enormous number of patients, independently devised methods for several operations, and wrote more than 20 scientific works. She taught at the Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education (MAPO).
The start of Voronova’s independent work coincided with healthcare reform that dismantled what remained of Soviet medicine. Everything she writes about has truly been suffered and experienced by her. The situations her heroes—professor-surgeons, anesthesiologists, and operating-room nurses—face are taken from real life.
Maria lives in Peterhof, repeatedly celebrated as the “city of fountains.” She loves strolling with her daughter through the parks of Peterhof, but this doesn’t happen often. Her daughter is seriously studying music, while Maria, in her free time, writes novels. She has no time for other hobbies—ice skating in winter and gathering mushrooms in autumn.
