All of Moscow is abuzz with the beauty and talent of the gypsy singer Nastya. Merchants and nobles, soldiers and poets come to listen to her at the restaurant. The richest people in the capital seek Nastya’s favor, poems and romances are dedicated to her, and even the prince Sbezhnyev wants to lead her to the altar… But then a camp horse-thief, Ilya, appears in the Moscow choir—and Nastya’s life goes off the rails…
