For hundreds of years, forest and moon elves have lived on opposite sides of the Great River. Some live by hunting and constantly move from place to place. Others made a pact with demons and, using their power, built a comfortable life for themselves in their castles.
On one fateful day, a new player appears in the arena—the mysterious “clear-eyed,” who drink elf blood and control them using hypnosis. It is during these days that Al’de, a forest huntress, must leave the hospitable thickets of the Great Forest and, obeying the call of prophecy, set off to search for her happiness.
The Al’de clan perished because of the clear-eyed. And now even happiness turns out to be strange, fickle, and cruel. Vel’d—the proud and self-absorbed prince of the moon kingdom, the illegitimate stepson of the late king—has now become an exile. Unfit for life in the wild, he lives with one desire: to burn someone to ashes and cut them into pieces. Preferably, of course, the enemy. But what can he do if fate itself—this trickster—promised him Al’de?
