What we have here is a real Scandinavian saga, though written with irony that is unusual for this genre. The story takes place in modern Norway. For the funeral of the domineering matriarch, Anna, all three of her sons and her granddaughter gather to meet again after a long separation and settle questions about inheritance. In each of these people’s closets there is a skeleton. But what the family father—the quiet, henpecked one—had hidden all his life cannot be explained logically.
