Teza from Our Yard

"In the years since the story ‘Teza from Our Yard’ was published, there have been many reprints and stage adaptations. I received dozens of letters asking me to tell how the subsequent fates of all the characters turned out. The same was asked of me at my meetings with readers. But I delayed—I kept putting it off. I didn’t consider myself entitled to sit down at the computer until I myself had followed the path of my heroes, until I, like them, had experienced the pain and bitterness of the hardest disappointments and the triumphant joy of overcoming them. And only now I’ve decided, and written the second part—the continuation of ‘Teza from Our Yard.’

The first part is devoted to describing the wonderful Odessa family. Teza, her husband Lesha, who returned from the war as an invalid, their daughter Marinka, her mother-in-law Many a, neighbors, friends… People lived in the same apartments with the same neighbors their entire lives, shared both joy and sorrow with them…
And the second part is devoted to emigration—it continues the first one, but new, no less colorful individuals appear: Alitet, Leva, Stepa.
