The final book of the “Templar” cycle. Returning to France is the famed and experienced warrior Alexander Voron, who took part in numerous battles in Palestine and in Rus’—after his failure in the past. The Grand Master of the Order of the Temple prepares a new crusade, once again attempting to free the Holy Land from the infidels. In Cyprus, troops and equipment are concentrated. Alexander joins the army and participates in the battle against the Mamluks.
But a blow from the back of the Templars comes from King Philip the Fair—under the indulgence of the Holy See, the most faithful defenders of Christianity are accused of Satanism; the Master and the priors are thrown into prison and subjected to torture.
Yet the main reason for the persecution of the Order is the king’s envy of the wealth of the Templar knights. Alexander tries to save the honor of his fighting brothers, but the Inquisition is relentless—and Voronov is forced to return home.
