Description
The 1950s. Tom Ripley is a young man trying to make his way in life. He is poor, has no decent job, but he is energetic and quite unscrupulous, and he doesn’t hesitate to get involved in various small schemes.

His hope is that sooner or later he will climb to the top. And one day, after a chance meeting, one of America’s richest men gives Tom an assignment: the young man must go to Italy and convince his son—who is wasting money in Europe—to come back home.

Arriving in Italy, Tom casually meets Dickie Greenleaf and Dickie’s friend Marge. Their luxurious life charms Tom. And soon Tom wins Dickie’s affection. The young people spend whole days together. But Dickie is a man of sudden whims and fast cool-downs. Tom’s blandness quickly becomes tiresome for him. And then it’s time to use the talents of Mr. Ripley—the ones he had considered insignificant: his masterful ability to imitate people’s voices and mannerisms and to forge their signatures. Later, circumstances fall into place so that he decides to take Dickie’s place.
