February 1944. After a fierce battle with the German “Panthers,” Soviet tankers are taken prisoner by the enemy.
After several escape attempts by Captain Tertsev and his gunner, Vetlugin, they are transferred to a camp that services a proving ground, where the Germans teach their artillerymen to hit Soviet tanks. The captain is under the strictest supervision—he isn’t left without watch even for a minute. But a daring escape plan is born in Tertsev’s mind. Together with Vetlugin, he hijacks a T-34 right under the enemy’s fire.
