In the very heart of modern Moscow, a gang of brutal robbers is operating. They are merciless to their victims, and the survivors insist that bearded men in kaftans and peasant boots attacked them. On the trail of the “costumed” men goes the best undercover officer of the MUR, Nikolai Belsky. He manages to track down the gang, lure them out, and eliminate the killers. Only the leader manages to escape—literally by disappearing into a thick brick wall. In the heat of the chase, the operative runs after him—and finds himself in the times of Ivan the Terrible.
