The Dagger and the Coin: The Tyrant's Law

Fifteen years have passed since a ruinous war destroyed the poets and forced their fearsome servants—the andats—to vanish. Emperor Haeyama strives to hold together the fragile, almost miraculous peace that has been achieved. He plans to cement it through a marriage between his son and the daughter of a powerful galt. But Maati, one of the few surviving poets, in exile has not accepted the war’s outcome; violating custom, he decides to teach new poets. His scheme is to create an andat at any cost and restore the world to what it was before the catastrophe.
