The Steppe

The first steps of Andrey Novak—now Sir Andrée—in a new world begin to bear fruit: the village of Novak (as the locals named it) is growing; goods produced there are in furious demand; the nearby forests have been cleared of robbers, and the roads have become calmer. But the ever-present Inquisition doesn’t stop paying attention to our hero, and, as penance imposed by the Church, Sir Andrée is sent with his squad to the southern frontiers.

Horse patrols often die in clashes with nomadic orcs, but Andrey has forged his unit into a truly close-knit team, and soon his patrol becomes the best on the border— and a real nightmare for the orcs. Moreover, the Inquisition’s close attention to the southern borders forces Andrey to search for the reason for this interest. And when he finds the answer, terrifying not only for him, but for all his companions as well.
