Peter Cheyney (real name Reginald Souths Cheyney; 1896–1951) is a popular English writer, a master of the “black” detective genre. In England he created a gangster-spy action thriller and a “tough” detective story by abandoning the tradition of the drawing-room, intellectually proper, and—essentially—very ladylike English version of this genre. Cheyney’s attractive, manly, sometimes slightly rough heroes usually find criminals themselves, pass judgment on them themselves, and themselves carry out the sentence—without losing a sense of humor. He is a great master at engaging and entertaining the reader; famous celebrities such as Ian Fleming and James Chase studied under him. His novels are known worldwide thanks to intricate plots, expertly woven intrigue, and, of course, unforgettable characters.
The first volume of Peter Cheyney’s Collected Works includes novels:

You Can Always Run Away (09:57:09)
