In the old Soviet times, the language said it as a matter of course: Lenin and Stalin. It was a legitimate—ideological—pair. The leaders’ private lives were sealed tight. Much later it turned out that each of them had their own partner—and not just one. Stalin had Alliluyeva and other women. Lenin had Krupskaya and Armand.
The book in front of you contains documentary love stories of the most famous people of the era: from Stalin to Gorbachev, from Marilyn Monroe to John Lennon, from Dostoevsky to Bunin, from Shostakovich to Tariverdiev.
Many of the people presented in the book worked in the genre of the novel. But the most interesting novels were their own lives.
