Death in a Black Envelope

Fashion photographer Agniya Tumanova has long gotten used to all the fuss, late arrivals, whims, and questions from models. Today, too, the strange question from the party star Kristina Orlik—“Do you believe in evil spirits?”—only made Tumanova laugh. But where did the tears and fear in the girl’s huge blue eyes come from? It wouldn’t let Agniya go, and the next day the newspapers shocked the public: Orlik had committed suicide, and—supposedly—she had long been addicted to drugs. But the naive beauty Kristina wasn’t a drug addict! Besides, the girl had an extremely important fashion show ahead that she would never miss. It seems a real crime has happened, and the police and the yellow press are shouting about Kristina’s “vices” one after another. When she realizes she won’t get the truth, Agniya begins her own investigation…
