The Shaman's Word

Fighting continues on Russia’s southern frontiers. The Crimean khans are eager to seize the rich Russian lands—and Moscow itself. Terrible sorcery, invulnerable clay men fighting on the side of the Tatars—war continues. And Tsar Ivan Vasilievich decides: to gather sorcerers and shamans and entrust them with defense against Tatar raids. And Kosta Rozin is tasked with checking the sorcerers and selecting the ones needed.

With a sigh, a boyar from the 20th century takes on this useless task—only to his surprise find that out of hundreds being tested, only five can do something at least. But to defend Russia from enemies took up only one—the Samoyed shaman.
