A 10th-century Baghdad writers’ testimony about the existence in their time of the Arabic book of fairy tales “The Thousand and One Nights” is confirmed by the presence of an excerpt from this book dating to the 9th century. Later, the collection’s literary evolution continued up to the 14th–15th centuries. New fairy tales of different genres and from different social backgrounds were added to it again and again.
