In the sea air of Blackberry Island, old secrets are in the air, love shocks, and a chance to start over.

Welcome to Blackberry Island.

No matter how you got here—whether you arrived by ferry or drove a thousand kilometers—it’s the perfect place to relax and not rush anywhere. Here, the island’s locals and guests gather sweet blackberries, spend time with a good book, and enjoy views over the noisy ocean, where every day the sun sinks.

Blackberry Island is located near Seattle. It was opened in 1792 by George Vancouver, captain of the British fleet, who explored the Puget Sound. American settlers who arrived on the island in 1848 named it after fruit bushes that grew everywhere. The original name of Blackberry Island was Feather Island.

In 1889, the island’s population doubled. That’s when the “Three Sisters” towers were built—about which the second book of the cycle will be.

Today, the tourism industry remains the island’s main sector.

“Season of Barefoot Walks” is the first book in the “Blackberry Island” series.

This is the story of Michelle’s return home. She may seem like a strong, independent woman, but, as they say, behind every armor there’s something we carefully keep and protect. Deep inside, she’s still a wounded girl who escaped home years ago.

Returning to Blackberry Island, Michelle has to continue her mother’s work—running the local hotel. But old resentments prevent her from overcoming the destructive past from which she fled.

Meanwhile… the “Blackberry Island” hotel welcomes new guests.

The season of barefoot walks is open.
