“Season of Storms” does not tell of the young years of the white-haired monster-slayer, nor does it tell of his fate after death/non-death that concludes the last volume of the saga. “Never say never!”
In the novel, readers will meet characters well known to them—such as Geralt’s faithful friend, the bard and poet Лютик, as well as his beloved—Yennefer, the fateful sorceress. But the stage is also filled by heroes, literally and figuratively, coming out of completely different fairy tales: people, non-humans, and monsters reared on magical arts. The story begins according to the rules of the genre: with an earthquake; later, the tension only increases. The Witcher wages a deadly fight against a predator that lives only to kill, then clashes with tall and not very likable city guards, ends up in court, loses his fine swords, and experiences a stormy romance with a red-haired beauty named Coral. And in the background—intrigues of kings and magicians. Thunder roars and storms go mad. And so—through all 404 pages of gripping reading.
“Witcher. Season of Storms” is a special novel in the history of the saga: neither a beginning nor a continuation. As the author writes: “The saga continues. The story never ends…”.
