Raul Jimenez, a well-known and well-to-do man, is found tortured to death in his own home. From the injuries he inflicted on himself, one can guess that he desperately tried to turn away from the television screen—after which his tormentor had him tied up. To make matters worse, his eyelids were removed. Detective Javier Falcon, a man by no means squeamish, is deeply shaken by what he sees and begins to feel a tremor of fear for the killer—someone capable, through visual images, of playing so artfully with the nerves of his victim.
