While King Helgi, now – Prince Oleg, is busy strengthening his power in Polotsk, his friends Ratibor and Sergey set out on a campaign to the North. In Danzig, their paths diverge. Ratibor goes to the Danes so that Byelay receives his father’s land, but the hereditary holding is burned to the ground, the relatives are slaughtered, and the killer has vanished into the impassable skerries. The friends set off in pursuit, and their journey leads through sea battles, night skirmishes, and mountain trails, where every step may be the last. After helping the Pomorians punish the raiders, Sergey goes to Aarhus for a bride, but soon is forced to flee from there because he said too much to the Dane king. Meanwhile, the Baltic smells of great trouble: Prince Leshko is gathering an army, and rumors spread that the target is Polotsk. Mercenaries flock to the Lechites from all across the North to sell swords to the one who pays more.

In the sixth book of the “Northern Saga,” the reader will face new clashes, where every blow determines fate, and intrigues, where every word may be the last.

The bear’s share is not forgiven—it is taken by force.
