Sergey Plotnikov is a well-known science-fiction writer working in various genres and author of several popular book series. Varvara Madoshi is Sergey Plotnikov’s wife and co-author. Together, they created several book series. One of them is the trilogy “On Open Air,” written at the intersection of space opera and humorous fantasy.
We are presented with an alternative Earth— a planet with many races and the omnipotence of magic. Here, already in the late 18th century, they learned to enter hyperspace called “the Ether.” Space colonization began with starships built from wood using spells.
The book’s hero, navigator Belobrysov, can’t find a new job—no space ship wants to hire him. But one day, work is finally found—though the navigator will have to join a purely female crew, except for the cat nicknamed “Boarding.” Alongside two former pirate women and a shy girl-werewolf, the hero heads toward adventures—and, of course, finds them. Details are in the audiobook.
