The Sandalwood That Never Was

2005. The North Caucasus. A special operational combat group “Sandal,” after completing a mission to destroy illegal armed formations, returns to its base location. However, the helicopter is shot down, and only a few people remain alive.

Meanwhile, changes in the political situation lead the Center to deny the existence of “Sandal”: the old commander is dismissed and dies under mysterious circumstances, while the new one carries out orders and destroys all documents—especially since the group is considered dead. The surviving fighters, with “legends” instead of real biographies, become outlaws. Federal forces consider them militants; the militants, in turn, consider them—just the opposite. They are forced to act according to the situation and in the mountains of the Caucasus try to find an ancient assassin’s dagger of great value… The only person who refuses to forget the group is Lieutenant Colonel Nizhegorodtsev, who covered “Sandal” during combat operations. Will he be able to bring the forgotten heroes back to their place in life, and will they find the ancient artifact?
