The Runic Mage

A battle mage’s life is full of adventures. And especially if you work in the imperial center for emergency management. Maybe that’s why I couldn’t manage to have a personal life by the time I turned forty. Of course, for a mage that isn’t even age—by our standards, I’m still basically a little girl. Even my looks are appropriate.

But sometimes I really wish there were someone—one and only—right beside me. Dan doesn’t count. He’s already started a family and has a whole pack of heirs, so he stopped being an obstacle to my happiness a long time ago.

But dreaming about a family is out of the question, because I’m being sent on an expedition to another continent. It turns out we have one there too, but it’s hidden under a mysterious magical canopy. From time to time our states send researchers there. Not all ships come back.

Now the emperor himself wants me to lead a new expedition to that mysterious continent. I have no idea what will await me on the road. I also don’t know what I’ll find at the end—whether I’ll even be able to return. But that’s my character: if adventures start blowing my way, you can’t keep me in place!
