Louisa May Alcott is an American writer, the author of the famous novel “Little Women,” which brought her worldwide fame and the love of readers. To this day, the book remains one of the most significant works in American literature. In 1875, Alcott released a touching tale about a girl named Rose, who, after the death of her parents, found a new home in a large, friendly family—the Campbells. The writer couldn’t part with her charming heroine (and since the first book had been a success), a year later she wrote a sequel—the story “Rose in Bloom.” After a two-year journey, Rose returns to her homeland, only to find herself at the center of attention from numerous admirers, from whom, according to her aunts, she is expected to choose a husband. However, Rose doesn’t think she needs to rush into marriage, valuing her independence and making ambitious plans to conquer high society. In this edition, “Rose in Bloom” is presented in a new wonderful translation by Alexandra Glebovskaya.
