How does it happen that you go to a vet clinic with one dog and come back with two—especially when the second one turns out to be a completely unfamiliar dachshund that the owners decided to give up? Easy: it’s about the same as going out onto the stair landing and finding an abandoned cat there—neighbors “borrowed” it for their move-in and then forgot about it. Fortunately, both the dachshund and the cat managed to find a good home.

And what is left for a guard dog? Of course: to protect their own and notice any danger that could spoil the family’s life in time.
