After the Bolshevik coup on October 25, 1917, civil adviser Klim Panteleyevich Ardashev, head of the Counterintelligence Bureau of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, leaves for Stavropol together with his wife and maid, hoping to wait out the turmoil in a quiet provincial town. However, in the provincial capital, events unfold that connect Stavropol, London, Petrograd, Moscow, the headquarters of the Volunteer Army, and Novorossiysk. Ardashev manages to untangle the knot of mysterious incidents and overcome all the difficulties on the way to good and light. “The Sentence” is the ending of the novel “The Secret of the Persian Wagon Train.”
