Lane decided to run away from his home because of his father’s and brother’s treachery. He went to the country of Vosnia, where—so they say—live savages, and gold changes owners very quickly. There he was warned about the cruelty and foolishness of kings, as well as about the cursed lands. But Lane is full of hope for a new home, and he begins his journey in the fighting arenas. However, he soon realizes that he’s heading into robberies, betrayals, and war—and when he finally admits that his father was right, it’s already too late.
