Fate has always tested me, and I always gave worthy pushback. I didn’t believe and I didn’t ask— I simply confidently went toward my goal. I emptied the emperor’s treasure vaults, managed to be reborn in the worthless body of a victim, and still avoided the slaughter. I rose again to the top, regained my family name, and at the same time rearranged the balance of power in the criminal world to my liking.

Now I’ll decide who will sit on the throne, while I myself will remain in the shadows.

There’s only one question left: where to get money for training in the magical academy where I was invited—and, judging by everything, where I’m not meant to end up. To take part in a battle from which I probably won’t come out victorious? Or to accept an offer of a job—one that will almost certainly lead me to the last line anyway, but on the other hand will allow me to replenish my personal stock of rare artifacts.

No matter what step I take, I believed I’m doing everything right. Otherwise it can’t be, no matter how much fate toys with me, testing my strength. The academy will wait for its new student—and it will be legendary!
