Konstantin Paustovsky created an extensive autobiographical work in which his personal story is tightly connected to the country’s historical events. Over eighteen years, he worked on “The Story of Life,” where he describes his biography in detail—from childhood to the early 1930s. During this period, he begins to feel success in writing and decides to devote himself entirely to literature, leaving his previous job. The book describes his first earnings, literary beginnings, the war years when he served as a medic and lost his brothers, the revolution, journalistic work, and finally recognition of his work. In this work, the author’s personal achievements and experiences are closely intertwined with major social changes and the evolution of the country in which he lived. The edition includes all six parts of “The Story of Life.”
