The second installment in the series about the bookstore “Black Cats” and the bookseller-sleuth Marzio Montecristo continues the story begun in the bestseller “The Book Club ‘Detectives on Tuesdays’” by writer and screenwriter Piergiorgio Pulixi, who was named Italy’s best author in 2015.
A few years ago, a fan of detective stories opened a small “Black Cats” shop on Sardinia for Marzio Montecristo. The store was named after its two regular “tenants”—the black cats of Miss Marple and Poirot, who once wandered inside and stayed forever. The shop is loved and frequently visited, though the owner’s temper, far from easy, often makes life difficult: the young employee Patricia has to deal with the fallout from his sharp outbursts in front of customers.
After the shop closes, the “Detectives on Tuesdays” book club holds its meeting here—an assembly of people who know their way around crimes and detective literature. While discussing the selected book, they find themselves again and again near real mysteries: a year ago, the club members already helped the police solve a genuine case. Now Inspector Angela Dimaase asks them once more to step in.
