Jack Reacher arrives in Margrave with a mysterious yet completely peaceful purpose—and immediately ends up at a police station. It turns out that this quiet, prosperous town has had its first murder in thirty years, and Reacher was seen near the crime scene. His story doesn’t impress the investigator, so the detained man will still have to prove that he didn’t kill anyone—at least here and now—and that, besides, he isn’t a newcomer to police matters. In the town, things become increasingly alarming, violent murders continue, and under pressures that suddenly become personal, Jack Reacher begins his own investigation, getting closer and closer to the masterminds behind a scheme of massive scale.
