Leonidas, the king of Sparta, wants a new destiny for his country and for the entire Greek world. But for that, it is necessary to destroy the army of the ephors and King Leotychidas—and become the sole ruler. Leonidas is preparing a secret invasion of his homeland. There is no time for a long war; it must be lightning-fast, because the Persians have only been pushed back from central Greece, but not utterly defeated. A loyal servant of Leonidas, Gysandor, whose spirit a few years ago was transferred into this time from the twentieth century, sails with the king to Sparta on the ships of the first invasion army. This is the fleet—banned by the ephors and secretly built by Leonidas—equipped with ballistas, not less secret weaponry that the rest of the world has not yet seen. However, most of Sparta’s citizens still stand with the ephors and the old order.
