The lute-player Peter Slyadek walks along the paths—doomed, again and again, to listen to chance confessions: a robber tries to outplay fate, a mage’s apprentice and an innocent young lady whirl in a mad circle; a monk and a judge spin in a frenzy; a genie appoints itself the conscience of a crafty merchant; the fencing master’s son mixes up words and a rapier; the iron hand of a knight-wizard crawls at night toward the castle chapel; it brings terror to hired soldiers in the elusive form of Anika-warrior. And finally, a gray-clad player offers Peter a game—the last one.
A great gift—being able to listen.
A heavy cross—talent and a road…
