The hero of a fantasy novel—a fifth-year student of the Department of Nuclear Physics, Andrey—wakes up in an unfamiliar apartment. Or rather, an apartment he knows, except everything in it is completely different. The house, the address, the date, the city—everything is as usual, but it isn’t the same apartment. The oddities continue when he decides to go out and take a walk around the city—the city has also changed beyond recognition. Besides, he meets people who are closely familiar to him, yet whom he sees for the first time. After some time, Andrey realizes he has ended up in a parallel universe. But the problems don’t end there. The next day, the hero finds himself in a parallel world again, and later discovers just how multifaceted spacetime is. What happened to his past life, where did his friends, his job, and his hometown go? The answers to these questions are given in the novel “First Projection.”
