Sometimes, to change a person, it isn’t enough to send him to another world. And why would that help, if in the big picture everything has stayed the same? At home, he was a student at a medical university—yet in another world he became the apprentice of the best healer in the city. But fate can change a life drastically. First there is an army that has been waging war for a year, suffering defeat after defeat—a hard trial for someone who knows life only from books. Then comes a tribe of orcs that, it seems, met Erik—an ex-healer and former thousand-man of the Hunter Legion—very warmly. But hospitality comes with payment: the orcs need new territories to live in, and they hope to find help from people. Erik himself dreams of returning, because so many unfinished matters remain in his homeland. But the return turns out far harder than it seemed, because unknown lands threaten new dangers. And even his native home welcomes him no more kindly than an old enemy.
