At first glance, the Chudds are an ordinary family of bakers. But Rose Chudds—by the time she was ten—realized that behind the closed doors of the kitchen, her mom and dad are really doing magic—more precisely… baking! Snickerdoodles from the Chudds’ bakery can easily cure sleepwalking; poppy seed buns can restore forgotten memories; and cookies can expose a liar. Before leaving the town, Rose’s father and mother strictly instructed Rose, her brothers, and her younger sister to keep the main family treasure—the Chudds’ Cookbook—locked away and not tell anyone about it. But as soon as the parents left the house, a mysterious stranger appeared right on the doorstep, introducing herself to the children as their fifth cousin aunt. And even if with the arrival of the unexpected guest life for the Chudds became more cheerful, Rose has no doubt: Aunt Lili is clearly hiding something. Is she really their relative and has come to help in the bakery—or should the siblings keep their distance from her?
