A quarter of a century ago, Vladimir Vysokov’s father died, and the thief-in-law Karo Sedoy, who was guilty of his death, wasn’t punished. Now Vladimir will have to decide Sedoy’s case, in which he is accused of a whole string of crimes. Everyone is sure the verdict will be harsh—but the criminals manage to exert pressure on the judge: his fiancée has been kidnapped.
