Sakhalin Island is bleak, dark, unusually suffocating—and seems bent on destroying everything around it. And it’s exactly here that a girl futurist named Sireň comes. Her goal is to study the island as thoroughly as possible so she can forecast the future.
The heroine moves between cities, gradually getting to know the inhabitants of this dubious place and making many new discoveries she previously had no idea about. Everything happening around Sireň gradually leaves its oppressive mark on her, while her work—though only temporarily—takes a back seat.
