A story set in mysterious Sardinia, where age-old forests and remote mountains still conceal ancient towers and sanctuaries that continue to live their own lives. In 1975, and then again eleven years later, two girls were murdered in the same ritual style—and it could happen again in our time. Their bodies were exposed, bound, and covered with sheep’s wool, and their faces were covered with bull masks. Both murders happened on the night of the Day of the Dead, but the case was never solved, and the identities of the victims were never established.
Inspector Moreno Barali dedicated his entire life to studying ancient Sardinian rituals, hoping to find a key to the mystery. Now, when young Dolores Murdja has disappeared, he is sure the ritual will repeat. But he has little time left because of a fatal illness, and no one believes his theory. Help must be found as soon as possible to save Dolores.
