We present the audio series “Shards of Darkness,” created based on the mystical stories from the book of the same name compiled by Anton Chizh, a popular author of detective novels written in the retro-detective genre. Each episode is a separate story and a separate audio play. But they are all united by the theme of an ominous invasion of the otherworldly and the inexplicable into ordinary people’s measured lives.

Mount Iremel in the Southern Urals has long had a bad reputation. They say whole groups of tourists disappeared there without a trace. Local guides strongly discourage adventure seekers from going there. But there will always be those who laugh at superstitions, and grim legends will become for them just another reason to take a risky hike. A married couple—experienced tourists—decide to go up the mountain and spend the night on its slopes. Maybe it was for nothing that they did it?
